Raising Money for Weston Park

Sheffield Cancer Choir delivered an emotional performance to businesses at the Master Cutler’s Challenge launch event for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Breast cancer survivor, Darrell Re set the cancer choir up with two of her friends, Liz Clay and Joanne Hockney, as a way of giving back to the community and giving a voice to those affected by cancer.

Starting proceedings with Dusty Springfield’s classic, I Only Want to Be with You – there was not a dry eye in the house during a moving performance of Abba, I Have a Dream. The choir closed the event with a very fitting rendition of Cabaret – Money.

Master Cutler, Nick Williams explained why he chose Weston Park Cancer Charity as the main beneficiary of funds raised through the 2020 Master Cutler’s Challenge.

Master Cutler said: “I was about 14 when my aunt died of breast cancer, my mother died 10 years later from breast cancer and my sister four years after that. Sadly, a young nephew passed away a year last Christmas aged 30, so for me it was a no brainer to support Weston Park.

“When you go into Weston Park Cancer Charity and when you meet the team, you see the passion. Those of you who haven’t signed up, trust me you will sign up when you hear the stories from patients, carers and staff.”
