🧡💙We recently celebrated our 5th Anniversary, here are some comments from our members

🧡💙On this day 5 years ago, I decided to step out of my comfort zone & respond to an advert I’d seen on Weston Park’s Facebook page. Who would’ve thought that it would introduce me to an amazing group of ladies, who I consider to be some of my closest friends & choir family. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Happy 5th Birthday Sheffield Cancer Choir 🥳 🥂 🙌 xx

🧡💙I saw an advert pinned to the wall in Weston Parks Cancer Charity office.
I can’t believe how 11.9.29 lifted me out of a very deep hole and I met many beautiful, brave and inspirational girls on that night and of course so many more of the same have joined us on our incredible journey in the last 5 years.
HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!!

🧡💙Mum and I were looking for something for us to do together away from our usual routine as we both finished our treatment and began our recovery, I remember Bunty saying, ” if it’s not for us we don’t have to go back!” Wow! Was it for us!!! I was swept up in a Huge hug by a very glamorous blonde lady, and that was that! My Choir family really is that to me, I genuinely don’t know what I would have done without the friends, support and love, happy 5th birthday SCC 🎵💙🧡👏💕

🧡💙Happy birthday everyone, I can’t believe how lucky I am to have been accepted into this wonderful family. It’s hard to believe that in 3weeks it will be a year since I sent my first email asking for information about joining, the choir plays such an enormous part of my life that it feels like I’ve been a part of it for forever. Thank you so much for so many wonderful moments and memories and here’s to many many more xx

🧡💙Happy birthday and thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Without knowing it you ladies have got me through lots of stuff over the last three years and you constantly inspire me. What a strong, smiley, lovely bunch I’m lucky to be part of. Xxx

🧡💙Happy 5th birthday, I am so glad Karen invited me to do the online sat singing sessions during lockdown which led to me joining the choir. I have never known such an amazing bunch of strong, supportive people xx

“It’s a privilege to sit in such a joyous assembly – thank you all.”

“I visited the cancer choir one evening; not really knowing what to expect. I can honestly say that for the whole evening I had goose bumps and was so moved. The ladies are all such talented singers who put their all into the songs they sing which are varied and fun. What makes this choir particularly special is the people involved in it; everyone is so caring, attentive and welcoming. If you were a newcomer and arrived on your own you would soon be swept up, introduced to the group and singing your heart out within minutes.

It has been a privilege to listen to the choir sing and be involved in their journey.”

“It was the passion of three friends which first struck me when I met them on a bright day in summer 2019. Their bond and their love of music and song just shone through. I remember thinking to myself, if anyone can set up a choir from scratch it’s these women. Fast forward less than a year and they have done it! From carolling at Christmas to performing for the Master Cutler, there has been no stopping them. It has never been solely about cancer, it’s always been about connecting people through their joint passion – and they have achieved that and much more.

Huge congratulations and ‘thank you for the music’.

“I can’t believe what a difference the choir has made to my life. I feel like I have found a new extended family. I have always loved to sing but I get so much more from SCC. However bad my day has been, I finish rehearsals with a huge smile on my face. Wednesday night has become the highlight of my week.”

“Darrell and all who organise and take part in The Sheffield Cancer Choir provide an important service for those affected by cancer in our region and we are happy to support them. Too many times we hear that cancer patients lose their self-confidence, want to find peer support from those who understand what they are going through and also want to enjoy themselves.; being part of the Sheffield Cancer Choir can tick all those boxes.”
